EGERTON HIGH SCHOOL PROPOSED ADDITION OF SIXTH FORM FROM SEPTEMBER 2023.

The Governing Body of Egerton High School is proposing to expand its provision to include a sixth form covering the 16-18 age range from September 2023. For a number of years, pupils leaving Egerton High School have experienced high drop-out rates in post 16 places, and have frequently returned to the School to visit staff and other pupils, relaying negative experiences in their post 16 phase. Over the period of the last 5 years, 40% - 72% of pupils typically drop out of post 16 places after only 1 year of their course. Of the last 3 cohorts, 57% - 93% are without sixth form provision. Surveys of current pupils indicate a strong desire to remain on roll at the School, as opposed to seeking a post 16 placement elsewhere. Egerton High School’s proposal is, therefore, a positive response to this situation, providing more provision and choice for our young people and their parents.
