COVID19 letter to Year 10&11!

Dear Parents/Carers,

During these unprecedented times, it is important we all work together to ensure our students still achieve their full potential and outcomes. A decision has been made to cancel this year’s formal examinations and replace them with Teacher Assessments. We are uncertain if this will apply in future years but regardless, the academic study must continue, either at school or at home.

We would like to reiterate that this school is very safe. We abide by a clear set of Covid19 safety regulations, have small classes in Nurture bases which are spacious, well ventilated and we regularly sanitise our hands. We continue to provide a structure and routine that many across the country are missing out on impacting on Mental health. In addition, we are continuing with our curriculum, in both key stages and within school our students are flourishing.

We do appreciate that there are some legitimate reasons and concerns regarding sending our children into school. If your son/daughter is staying at home, it is vital that they pursue their studies daily. Not only is this to ensure they continue to learn but in order for a teacher to assess them, they must submit completed work. We will be called to account for our assessment marks and this will mean regardless of target grades, evidence of work must be provided in order to secure a GCSE qualification.

We hope this offers some clarity and assurance regarding sending your children to school. If students continue to maintain their hard efforts in producing work, we are confident they will leave Egerton with a fantastic set of qualifications.

If your son/daughter remains at home they will continue to receive daily phone calls to offer support with the work packs that have been sent home.

Many thanks for your support,
Egerton Curriculum Team
